HOW I LEARNED TO FLY by Radivoje Andrić (Serbia/Croatia/Bulgaria/Slovakia) Reasons: The CIAL award for the environment this year goes to a feature film that deals with the themes of family life and feelings. These themes are embraced by nature that figures as the background to a modern and moving story. Even though the focus of the plot is not strictly environmental, the award for the environment goes to this feature film because of the strong relationship between the protagonist, Sofija, and the Croatian island and sea that nourish her and protect her in the most difficult years of a young woman’s life. |
Special Award LETE SPECIAL AWARD SPORT AND SOCIAL CULTURE |
|
BIGMAN by Camiel Schouwenaar (The Netherlands) Reasons: Bigman is an emotional work of art that shows how the strength of a dream and the passion for sport can turn a little boy into an amazing warrior. It is also the metaphor of the lives of great Champions such as Bebe Vio and Alex Zanardi, noble souls just like Dylan; the little protagonist of the film. |
Special Award CLEAR CHANNEL ITALY AWARD INNOVATION AND SUSTAINABILITY |
|
IN THE SEA THERE ARE CROCODILES by Rosalba Vitellaro (Italy) Reasons: The short film distinguished itself thanks to a modern cinematic language that at the same time was also simple and effective. The language was able to convey great courage and strength. Moreover, the values of cooperation, intuition, resilience and stubbornness, conveyed in the film, together with our firm’s principles of equity, innovative thinking and freedom, made people identify with this beautiful story. |

SONATA by Bartosz Blaschke (Poland) Reasons: Because the film tells a beautiful and true story, taken from the biography of Grzegorz Plonka, highlighting the difficulties and barriers encountered, without false pietism. The network of family relationships, complicated by the protagonist's hearing loss, is effectively represented thanks to the performative ability of the cast, in which young Michal Sikorski’s performance stands out amazingly. The non-linear narrative, also thanks to a wise management of temporal plans, challenges the viewer and involves him in the reconstruction of deliberately opaque passages. Moreover the subjective use of the audio perceived by the protagonist plunges us within moments into his emotional world through a narrative path that thematizes music as a metaphor for the search of communication. |
