Biography

Ruggero Cappuccio, born Ruggiero (Torre del Greco, January 19th 1964), is an Italian writer and director. In 2016 he released "La prima luce di Neruda".
Thanks to the novel "Fuoco su Napoli" (Feltrinelli) he won the Premio Vittorini and the Premio Napoli - Libro dell'anno in 2011. The novel was edited in Spain as "Fuego sobre Napoles" by Siruela.
He directed a lot of operas for Salzburg Festival, Teatro alla Scala di Milano, Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, conducting with Riccardo Muti, Pinchas Steinberg, Bruno Campanella, Boris Brott.
For Tg3 Linea notte he curated a space dedicated to literature, cinema and theater.
Screenwriter of "Essendo stato", a film about Paolo Borsellino broadcast on Rai 1 and Rai Storia. Director of "Examleto", with Roberto Herlitzka and broadcast on Rai 5. Co-screenwriter of "Veleni", directed by Nadia Baldi with Vincenzo Amato, Tosca d'Aquino, Lello Arena, Roberto Herlitzka; screenwriter and director of "Rien Va" with Roberto Herlitzka, Chiara Muti and Lello Arena, produced by Visioni Segrete and Rai Cinema. Screenwriter and director of "Il Sorriso dell'ultima notte" with Chiara Muti, Gea Martire, Giovanni Esposito, Claudio di Palma and Ciro Damiano, produced by Alberto Grimaldi. Screenwriter and director of "Lighea o i silenzi della memoria" with Roberto Herlitzka and Claudio di Palma, produced by Rai 2, Rai Trade, Rai International. Screenwriter and director of the theatrical movie "Shakespea Re di Napoli" with Lello Arena and Claudio di Palma, co-produced by Rai 5 and Visioni segrete.
In 2016 he was nominated as the Artistic Director of Napoli Teatro Festival. He was the Artistic Director of Benevento Città Spettacolo, of Techné and Formart projects, financed by Ministry of Labour. From 2011 to 2016 he was director of Festival Segreti d'autore.
He is director of many theatratical shows in the most important Italian theatres, obtaining prizes and successful with critics and audencies.
