Biography

Marco Dolfin, born in Turin on August 6th, 1981. Passionate about sport, he is an orthopedic surgeon at Hospital Giovanni Bosco in Turin. On October 11th 2011 he gets injured while riding a bike and gets to hospital, not as a doctor but as a patient: polytraumatised, he also has a T12 vertebra fracture. Paraplegia. Nonetheless, for the ones who are not used to giving up, like Marco is, the body is something to rebuild, just like their lives. As a matter of fact, he gets closer to the paralympic world during his rehabilitation at Unità Spinale in Turin, thanks to the love for his job and for sport: he starts playing table tennis and, after a while, after setting foot in the water again, he gets back to his passion for paralympic swimming.
That is why in the Spring of 2013 he joins FINP, Federazione Italiana Nuoto Paralimpico (Paralympic Italian Swimming Federation), where he breaks several records in different activities. He wins the bronze medal for Men’s 100 metres at the European Championships in Funchal (Portugal), and he takes part in the Paralympic Games of Rio in 2016.
