JASMINE TRINCA

JULY 23

Biography

Born in Rome in 1981, Jasmine Trinca started her film career at the age of 18, thanks to Nanni Moretti, who chose her for "La stanza del figlio", Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 2001. Until then, her dream had been that to become an archaeologist. In "La meglio gioventù" by Marco Tullio Giordana (winner of the Un Certain Regard section in Cannes in 2003), she played the complex character of Giorgia, while in 2005 she was Roberta in "Romanzo Criminale" by Michele Placido, who also selected her as the protagonist in "Il grande sogno", with which she won the Mastroianni Award at the 66th Venice Film Festival.

Nanni Moretti called Jasmine again to play the role of a young director in "Il caimano". The following year she was in the jury of Un Certain Regard and in 2010, in Venice, in the jury of the Luigi de Laurentiis Award. 2013 was a year of important encounters and acknowledgments: Jasmine was the protagonist of the first feature film by Valeria Golino, "Miele" and "Un giorno devi andare" by Giorgio Diritti, in competition at the Sundance Film Festival. The international relevance of her career success was again confirmed in Cannes, in 2011, with "L’apollonide - Souvenirs" de la maison close by Bertrand Bonello, director with whom she also collaborated in "Saint Laurent" (2014), while in 2015 she co-starred with Sean Penn and Javier Bardem in "The Gunman" by Pierre Morel.

In 2015, she worked with the Taviani brothers in "Maraviglioso Boccaccio", and in "Nessuno si salva da solo", by Sergio Castellitto, whom she joined again two years later in Fortunata, a film which earned Jasmine the Best Actress prize in the Un Certain Regard section in Cannes in 2017. In the same year, she was in the jury of the Official Competition at the 74th Venice International Film Festival. In 2018, Jasmine Trinca will return to cinema with "Sulla mia pelle" by Alessio Cremonini, in which she plays the character of Ilaria Cucchi, and in the second film by Valeria Golino, "Euforia", who will direct her again after her impressive directorial debut.
