Mark Ratzlaff is a filmmaker from Vancouver, Canada, with a collection of award-winning short films that have screened internationally at Comic-Con, Austin, Shnit, Fantasia, Vancouver, Sedona and Cannes (to name a few). His thesis film HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY starred four kids, a rhinoceros and premiered at the Montreal World Film Festival. He was later the recipient of the Director’s Guild of Canada’s Kick Start award for his film VOODOO. Most recently Mark won the MPPIA Short Film Award for his film BEAUTY MARK, which Telefilm Canada selected to screen with their ‘Not Short on Talent’ program at the Cannes Film Festival. In addition to directing, Mark was recently the editor, DOP and producer of the award-winning feature documentary BLOOD RELATIVE. The film screened in competition at the Hot Docs International Film Festival in Toronto and won Best Canadian Documentary at VIFF. Last month Mark received honors for his Screenwriting and the Golden Sheaf Award for Best Emerging Filmmaker at Yorkton Film Festival.

Mark Ratzlaff è un regista di Vancouver, autore di una serie cortometraggi proposti e premiati in numerosi eventi internazionali (Comic-Con, Austin, Shnit, Fantasia, Vancouver, Sedona e Cannes, solo per citarne alcuni). Il suo film HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY, interpretato da quattro ragazzi e un rinoceronte, ha debuttato al Montreal World Film Festival. In seguito Mark ha ricevuto il premio Kick Start - assegnato dalla Director’s Guild of Canada - per il corto VOODOO e vinto il MPPIA Short Film Award per BEAUTY MARK. Quest’ultimo film è stato anche selezionato da Telefilm Canada per far parte del programma 'Not Short on Talent’ (Non a corto di talento) proposto al festival di Cannes 2013. Oltre a lavorare come regista, Mark è stato recentemente montatore, direttore della fotografia e produttore del pluripremiato documentario BLOOD RELATIVE. Il film è stato presentato in concorso all’Hot Docs International Film Festival di Toronto e ha vinto il premio come miglior documentario canadese al Vancouver International Film Festival.
