Synopsis
Jojo, 10 years-old, lives alone with his father, a volatile and aggressive night watchman, in a rural area. Jojo’s mother is absent: she is apparently touring as a country singer. The father tries to hide his despair but he drinks and suffers from violent mood swings. Jojo is left to himself with his questions and worries. One day, he finds an abandoned baby jackdaw that has fallen out of his nest and brings him home. He has to keep him hidden from his father who doesn’t want birds in house. Rearing the little bird gives Jojo a feeling of happiness. A girl from his swimming club also becomes interested in him. When the truth about his mother can no longer be denied, Jojo is still at risk of losing his fragile hold on life. Through his friendship with the bird, Jojo finds a way to break down the wall surrounding his father’s heart.

Sinossi
Jojo, 10 anni, vive in campagna con suo padre, volubile e brusco, che fa il guardiano notturno. La madre di Jojo è assente: è una cantante country, e sembra sia in tournée. Il padre di Jojo tenta di nascondere il suo dolore per la lontananza della moglie, ma beve e soffre di violenti sbalzi d’umore. Così Jojo è abbandonato a se stesso, ai suoi dubbi e ai suoi pensieri. Un giorno, trova un piccolo corvo caduto dal nido, e lo porta a casa, ma deve nasconderlo al padre, che non vuole uccelli in casa. Prendersi cura del corvo dona a Jojo un senso di serenità, e lo porta a stringere amicizia con una ragazza che frequenta la sua stessa piscina. Ma quando la verità sulla madre non può più essere negata, il fragile equilibrio della vita di Jojo rischia di spezzarsi. Attraverso l’amicizia con il piccolo corvo, Jojo tenterà di abbattere il muro che serra il cuore di suo padre.
