Ben Young
Ben Young (BA Film and Television, MA Professional Communications) had his first job in film when his was 13, acting in a TV commercial. His acting led to an interest in writing and directing and since then he has been on over 100 film sets from student films to features, performing everything from extra work to directing and producing. In 2004 Ben won the music video category of the Muddy Shorts film festival for a Nathan Gaunt clip he directed, and in 2005 he was award Young Filmmaker of the year at the West Australian Screen Awards for his work over past 2 years. Ben was funded by ScreenWest under the New Screenwriters scheme in 2004 and is currently developing 3 feature films with different producers in Western Australia, one of which has been financed through ScreenWest. As well as writing, Ben has directed short films, television and viral commercials, music videos and “making of” documentaries for LAST TRAIN TO FREO, THE CIRCUIT and MARX AND VENUS. He was also writer and director on the kids series TRAPPED and CASTAWAY.

Ben Young è laureato in Cinema e Televisione con una specializzazione in Professional Communications. Lavora nel cinema da quando a 13 anni recitò in uno spot televisivo. Da lì è nato il suo interesse per la scrittura e la regia che lo ha condotto a essere presente su oltre 100 set di vario genere, facendo di tutto: dai lavori extra fino ad arrivare alla regia e alla produzione. Nel 2004, Ben ha vinto la categoria “video musicale” del Muddy Film Festival per aver diretto un clip di Nathan Gaunt. Mentre nel 2005 è stato premiato come Giovane Cineasta dell’Anno ai West Australian Screen Awards per i lavori realizzati nei due anni precedenti. Ben è stato finanziato dalla ScreenWest grazie al programma dedicato ai Nuovi Sceneggiatori nel 2004, e attualmente sta sviluppando, con diversi produttori dell’Australia occidentale, tre lungometraggi, uno dei quali finanziato attraverso ScreenWest. Ben ha scritto e diretto cortometraggi, spot televisivi e virali, video musicali e "making of" per documentari come LAST TRAIN TO FREO, THE CIRCUIT e MARX E VENERE. Ha anche scritto e diretto episodi delle serie per ragazzi TRAPPED e CASTAWAY.
