Vinod Ganatra
He has been active in cinema and TV from 1983. He has edited and directed about 400 documentaries. He has produced 250 TV programmes for youth. He has made three children films in last five years: his debut film HEDA-HODA (BLIND CAMEL), LUKKA CHHUPPI (HIDE-N-SEEK), and HARUN-ARUN. His experience of working with children for more than two decades has resulted in the formation of the organisation CAVEF (Children’s Audio-Visual Educational Foundation).

Vinod Ganatra lavora nel campo del cinema e della tv dal 1983. Ha montato e diretto circa 400 documentari. Ha prodotto 250 programmi tv per ragazzi. Negli ultimi cinque anni ha realizzato tre film per ragazzi: HEDA-HODA (BLIND CAMEL), che è il suo esordio alla regia, LUKKA CHHUPPI (HIDE-N-SEEK), e HARUN-ARUN. La sua esperienza ventennale con i ragazzi è sfociata nella creazione di un ente per l’educazione audiovisiva, la Children’s Audio-Visual Educational Foundation (CAVEF).

Director’s statement
“HARUN-ARUN is a film giving true picture of people living in both sides of our Indo-Pak Border. The partition of India in 1947 divided not only country but so it did many hearts and many families. Thousands of people migrated from one side of Border to another side leaving behind their home, farm, relatives and friends with heavy hearts. One such man separated from his motherland Lakhpat in Kutchchh, India is Rashid Suleman, now living in Pakistan with his only surviving grandson Harun. This film explores the story of Harun, a young boy who is extremely fond of Indian films and songs. The rough life in a hostile environment has taught young Harun a lot of survival skills. He can do many things that normal children of his age would not even dream of doing. HARUN-ARUN proves one point, that the issues of the heart are the issues of the world, not limited to any community or clan or geographical boundaries”.
