Synopsis

Based on a true story of the Monterrey Industrial Little League team. In 1957 a rag-tag, shoeless, poor group of kids from Monterrey, Mexico shocked the world of baseball playing in the Little League World Series. These kids, led by their priest and a down-and-out former major leaguer embark on a journey through the southern US and up into Williamsport, PA for the Championship game. They encountered many advertise including nearly being deported and the bigotry that wouldn’t allow them into certain restaurants or travel on certain buses. They never lost their faith and eventually captured the hearts of both nations.

Il film è basato sulla storia vera della squadra Monterrey Industrial Little League. Nel 1957 un eterogeneo gruppo di bambini poveri di Monterrey, Messico, sciocca il mondo del baseball partecipando al campionato Little League World Series. I bambini - guidati dal loro parroco e da un ex giocatore in bassa fortuna - affrontano un lungo viaggio attraversando il Sud degli Stati Uniti fino a Williamsport, Pennsylvania, per giocare un importante partita. Il loro tragitto sarà contrassegnato da mille difficoltà: a un certo punto rischiano di essere deportati e, soprattutto, devono affrontare i pregiudizi razziali che non consentono loro di mangiare in molti ristoranti, né di usare qualunque autobus. I ragazzi non perdono mai la loro fede, conquistando così sia il cuore dei tifosi messicani che quello del pubblico americano.
