Grethe Bøe
Grethe Bøe, 35 years old, has directed commercials, short fiction films and television drama. She also acted in ODD LITTLE MAN (DA JEG TRAFF JESUS... MED SPRETTERT, 2000), directed by Stein Leikanger and appeared in Giffoni Film Festival 2001 (First Screens section). THE TEN LIVES OF TITANIC THE CAT is her feature film debut as director.

LE DIECI VITE DEL GATTO TITANIC è il suo primo lungometraggio da regista.

Director’s statement
“THE TEN LIVES OF TITANIC THE CAT is a film about a spooky black cat, revealing a tragedy from the past, threatening to repeat itself if people do not listen and learn. It’s a story about two very courageous friends who dares to listen and to follow the black cat into the dark unknown to learn the truth. I am fond of mystery, suspense and exploring the border between dreams and reality. In creating this film I hope to entertain and to play, but also to seduce the viewers imagination into exploring the possibility of the metaphysical. The riddle brought to the main character, Liv, by the mysterious black cat is full of references to history, philosophy and semiology. The observant viewer may find many hints to the film’s solution already from the start. We are always surrounded by omens, but do we see them? I love the synergy of actors, images, music and sound coming together to play, to dream and to enjoy a good scare”.

“LE DIECI VITE DEL GATTO TITANIC è un film su un misterioso gatto nero, e tratta di una tragedia che è legata al passato, e che potrebbe ripetersi qualora le persone non si decidano ad ascoltare e imparare. È una storia su due amici molto coraggiosi che trovano la forza di ascoltare, e di seguire il gatto nero nel buio per conoscere la verità. Adoro il mistero, la suspense, l’esplorazione del confine tra sogno e realtà. Con questo film spero di emozionare e coinvolgere, ma anche di stimolare l’immaginazione degli spettatori a sondare le possibilità del soprannaturale. L’enigma portato dal misterioso gatto nero alla protagonista, Liv, è pieno di riferimenti alla storia, alla filosofia e alla semiotica. Lo spettatore attento potrà trovare molti indizi sulla soluzione del film già dall’inizio. Siamo sempre circondati da presagi, ma riusciamo a vederli? Amo la fusione tra attori, immagini, musica e suono, elementi che si combinano per emozionare, per far sognare, e per spaventare”.
