Synopsis
Thomas is turning 16, and moving to a new home with his family. He has to start at a new school, and all he wants is to fit in. His older brother Charlie is autistic and has Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). When his pregnant mother Maggie has to take things easy, his father Simon puts Thomas in charge of Charlie. Thomas and Simon between them take on Charlie’s daily routine; and Thomas experiences the less savoury aspects of coping with his brother. One day, Charlie escapes the house and leads Thomas on a chase across the neighbourhood. Charlie bursts into a stranger’s house to use the toilet; and Thomas finds himself face to face with Jackie, his pretty new classmate. At the new school, Thomas must do his livesaving badge, although he can barely swim. He is partnered with Jackie; and Jackie swims like a fish. Young love blossoms between the two. Meanwhile Thomas’s birthday is drawing near.
Sinossi
Thomas, quasi 16 anni, ha traslocato con la sua famiglia in una nuova casa. Deve iniziare a frequentare una nuova scuola, e tutto ciò che vuole è inserirsi. Il fratello maggiore, Charlie, è autistico e soffre di disturbo da deficit di attenzione (ADD). La madre, Maggie, è incinta e deve stare a riposo. Simon, il padre, decide allora che anche Thomas dovrà occuparsi di Charlie. Thomas e Simon si dividono le cure di Charlie, e Thomas scopre gli aspetti meno piacevoli della vita col fratello. Un giorno Charlie scappa di casa, rincorso da Thomas, e irrompe in una casa di vicini per andare al bagno; Thomas si trova così davanti a una sua compagna di scuola, la bella Jackie. A scuola Thomas deve seguire un corso di primo intervento, anche se sa nuotare appena, e viene scelto come partner di Jackie, che nuota come un pesce: tra i due sboccerà l’amore. Intanto il compleanno di Thomas si avvicina.
