Synopsis

Summer. Bruno zips along Italian streets with his convertible car. He is aggressive and rude. He lives by his wits, he is divorced and his daughter is going to marry a rich and old firm owner. When Bruno meets by chance Roberto, a young and shy university student, he takes him with him on his journey. The two men have two different characters, two different visions of life, two different universes that sometime clash and sometime meet. Finally they will share the same tragic destiny.
IL SORPASSO is one of the masterpieces of Italian cinema. It is the result of the talent of Dino Risi, one of the fathers of Italian comedy, but also the result of a very good team work: we can’t forget the co-writers Ettore Scola and Ruggero Maccari and the unforgettable interpretation of Vittorio Gassman.
