Director’s statement

“I was wondering if it was possible to tell a fairytale set in a war landscape. ZOÈ is the story of a child’s research for her father. The story is set during the German occupation in a Piedmont village. The film will give to the audience the opportunity to travel in a kind of ‘Alice in Horrorland’, to follow a girl who is escaping towards salvation and fighting against inequality between men. Zoè has to learn how to recognize good and evil, ying and yang, inertia, poverty, loneliness and above all a word that the men will never erase from their dictionary: War”.
