USA, the Great Depression. Life is not easy but there is still somebody like Babe Ruth, the Yankees pinch hitter, who makes people dream. Among his fans there is Yankee Irving, 10 years old. The boy knows all the statistics about Babe and his only reason in life are the Yankees. On the playground his only desire is to take and swing the bat, but he never hits the ball. So, after several failures, he gives up. But then he finds a new friend: a magic talking ball, Screwie, that has a conflictual relationship with baseball. The strange couple decides to travel across the country to find Babe Ruth’s bat, named Darlin’ that has been stolen. They have to find the bat to give it back before the last match of the 1932 Championship.
