Henry Selick
Henry Selick studied at CalArts, where his shorts, PHASES and TUBE TALES were nominated for Student Academy Awards. Then he worked at Disney with Glen Keane (THE FOX AND THE HOUND). Thanks to a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts he made his award-winning short SEEPAGE. He spent several years directing famous commercials and sequences of animated features (TWICE UPON A TIME; RETURN TO OZ; NUTCRACKER: THE MOTION PICTURE). He made his feature-directing debut in 1993 with Tim Burton’s THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS. In 1996, Henry continued with JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH, his live-action/stop-motion adaptation of Roald Dahl's book. Henry’s third feature, MONKEYBONE, is a live action/animated adaptation of the underground comic. In recent years he has worked at the animation for Wes Anderson’s feature THE LIFE AQUATIC WITH STEVE ZISSOU and has created MOONGIRL. At the moment he is working on his adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s children’s book, “Coraline”.
