VILLA HENRIETTE

Category: Edition 2005

Synopsis

12-year-old Marie lives in an old villa. Just like her grandmother, she thinks that Villa Henriette has a life of its own. Marie’s mother doesn’t have time for the quirks of her mother-in-law, who invests all her money in inventions that never make any. Marie’s father, a researcher, seems to live in Ancient Egypt. His sister Olli is a wanna-be poet. Grandmother’s brother Alfred, who doesn’t care for nothing but his flowers, completes the collection of oddball characters at home. Granny has come up with a new invention: an electric scooter. She has invested all her savings in developing it. One day a speculator reveals that the house is being put up for sale. Moreover, Marie’s two friends Konrad and Stefan compete to be her best friend. It soon emerges that Granny has been cheated and her money has vanished: the villa have to be sold. Everyone else in the family accepts the situation. But Marie doesn’t give up.
