Synopsis
Winter. A road with passing trucks across a small town and deserted railroad tracks nearby. This is where Halina and her daughter, Iwonka, 15 year-old, plod through the snow every day. They live in a hut by the tracks, the only inheritance from the husband and father, a railwayman who, after the station was closed down, committed suicide. Halina takes care of a baby that Iwonka gave birth to two months ago. Iwonka, a bit slow-witted, carefully guards the secret who the father of her son is. Halina swore on her husband’s grave to find the culript and baptize the baby before Christmas giving the boy his grandfather’s name. Iwonka constantly changes her mind as who the father is, getting herself and her mother into troubles. Their search intertwines with the secret of the suicide of Iwonka’s father. Those trips to discover the secret make Mother realize her hidden fears and give Daughter hope.
