4TH FLOOR

Category: Edition 2004

Synopsis

A group of young lads, all of them around the age of fifteen, live together on a rather peculiar “block”: in the orthopaedic ward of a hospital. With their innate love for life Miguel Angel, Izan, Dani and Jorge are determined to defy the disregard with which destiny has treated them, in order to make their stay there bearable. But, one thing is collective reaffirmation, quite another individual identity – as seen in the reactions of each to their particular situations: Miguel Angel’s supposed self-sufficient solitude, Jorge’s fear of the diagnosis coming his way, Izan’s unforgettable memories, Dani’s first encounter with love…

Director's statement

“I read the play ‘Los Pelones’, by Albert Espìnosa, based on personal experiences. I was touched by the content of the story but also by the way it was told: a different way to talk about cancer, through the experience of a group of adolescents. The story talks about love, humour, solidarity and grief with a new sensibility. I liked the mix between humour and emotions. I contacted Alberto and we began to write the screenplay”.
