Alessandro D'Alatri (Rome, 24 February 1955) is an Italian director, screenwriter and actor.
He starts acting very young. He made his debut in 1969 in the film The boy with the clear eyes of Emilio Marsili; the following year he played in the film Il giardino dei Finzi Contini by Vittorio De Sica. He moved to directing in the early eighties, directing more than 100 commercials that get excellent awards. In 1991 he made his big screen debut with the film American Red, with which he won the David di Donatello and the Ciak d'Oro for best debut film.
In 1993 he directed Kim Rossi Stuart in Senza pelle, a film he will present at Cannes in the Quinzaine des réalisateurs section. He directs a TV special about Sergio Citti and then he makes a documentary entitled The price of innocence that tells about child prostitution in Thailand. In 1997 he also designed a film in English, Bravo Randy, which should see the performers Valeria Golino and Jovanotti, his old friend. However, the film is not filmed due to budget problems.
