Panic is a small-time crook of Soweto completely uninterested in political struggle. One day he is arrested together with Sam, involved in politics. Panic finishes up in a cell with political prisoners and is despised by them for his life-style. The police, however, have plans for Panic, as their informer. For several days they use gentle persuasion and then torture until he is forced to give information – something which could cost him his life.
