THE KNOT IN THE NECKTIE

Category: Edition 1992

Synopsis
The fourteen-year-old Carlino, a restless and rebellious boy, lives with his parents Cesare and Bianca and his eldest sister Carolina, who is about to marry Pietro. The father, severe and cold with his son, is a fatuous and irreducible womanizer who loves only himself and his dog, while the mother is shy and frustrated. Carlino takes revenge for the lack of love, combining many troubles. The father, furious, then puts him in a strict college, held by religious, where the boy is uncomfortable with his companions and teachers, and especially with the prefect in charge of night surveillance, which punishes him continuously. Yet another punishment, Carlino slaps the prefect, then flees by bike, struggling to reach the family villa in the countryside, where they come to look for his parents, who immediately fight. Cesare cries to his wife that Carlino is not his son. The boy, horrified by what he heard, flees again and has a small accident. Later he went to live in the home of Carolina and Peter, and here he learns that Carolina probably has a lover. Shortly thereafter the young spouses separate, because Pietro also has a relationship with another woman. Disgusted by his family, Carlino decides to return immediately to boarding school, and here he finally makes friends with a companion, Bazzoni, a sweet and kind boy.
