Giuseppe Maria Scotese (Monteprandone, 26 January 1916) is an Italian painter and director.
He began painting as a young man, took part in some art exhibitions, then moved to Rome attending the direction course of the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia, graduating in 1939.
He directs, on behalf of the Istituto Luce, some documentaries and then he worked on directing and writing his first film, in 1945, with Il sole di Montecassino.
Mindful of his activity as a painter he writes and directs the models of via Margutta, on life around the artists' street; then goes on to collaborate with the Incom Week, always with short films.
He resumed his activity as a screenwriter and director directing about 18 films to the 80s, in 1983 after a long period of absence realizes his latest film Cannibali tomorrow, a documentary where he brings, with images, from various parts of the world, the dramatic life of marginalized tribes and communities.
