A graduate in Philosophy, Sergio Bergonzelli made his debut in 1952 as an actor, initially using the pseudonym of Siro Carme.
1957 marks the definitive end of the acting activity, but opens Bergonzelli the doors to the career of director, in fact in 1960 he made his first film both as director and screenwriter (role that will cover in many other productions) with the film " The adventurers of the tropics ".
In 1964 Bergonzelli signs another film, "Jim the first" a western with Ketty Carver, defined by critics as the first Italian western film, antecedent also to the masterpiece of Sergio Leone For a Fistful of Dollars.
In 1965 he was once again director and screenwriter (participation in the screenplay by Bitto Albertini) with "Uno straniero a Sacramento", a western defined by the critics without any particular merit. Also in the same year, the director-actor produces another film, always signing the screenplay, and always with Bitto Albertini, "MMM 83 - Mission death wharf 83", completely changing genre. A particularity of Sergio Bergonzelli is precisely the great variation of genres, both as an actor and as a director.
In 1966 he returned to the western genre with the creation of "El Cisco", starring William Berger, also in this case Bergonzelli personally takes care of the screenplay. In the period between 1965 and 1975 the cinematographic world will see a great diffusion of the western genre, Bergonzelli does not escape the trend and still signs a western film: "Una colt in fugno al diavolo".
The 1968 marks with "Silvia and love" the debut of Bergonzelli with the genre that will accompany him for almost the rest of his career, the erotic. The same year he produced another film with an erotic background with a pseudo-documentary cut: "The 10 Wonders of Love".
In 1969 he made the adventure film "I desperate of Cuba", the following year instead he signs a mediocre yellow-erotic film titled "In the folds of the flesh" from this moment on Bergonzelli will produce only erotic films.
In 1971 the drama (with many erotic scenes) "I Cristiana student of the scandals" is signed and written by Sergio, the following year is the protagonist of the screenplay of a western that is monotonous from the critic, "Su cadavere hands! in arrest ".
In 1973 he again made a b-movie with an erotic background this time interspersed with religious themes, unscrupulous for the combination of the themes but at the same time moralist, "Christian monk possessed." After the making of this film Bergonzelli leaves the scene for about two years, back in 1975 with the erotic comedy "La cognatina". In 1976 he made the erotic film "Taxi Love, service for a lady". Thus the career of Bergonzelli resumes, which the same year directs "La sposina", and "Il compromesso ... erotico".
