THE LAST DADDY

Category: Edition 1978

Synopsis
Tonino, left an orphan of a father, lives only with the affection of the dog Wodka. The mother is linked to a violent and unscrupulous man, Raimondo. Tonino has only one great desire to become a great trapeze artist like his father but his dream is hampered by his mother who, under the pressure of Raimondo, sends him to boarding school after selling the dog. On Christmas Day, Tonino remained alone, decides to escape, despite a storm and returns to the circus welcomed by his mother who decides to abandon Raimondo for the love of his son. Everything seems now serene but the arrival of Andrea, a former trapeze artist who has broken wrists is forced to make the clown, makes the situation change because Tonino is jealous of the affection that Andrea steals from his mother. One night Tonino finds the agonizing little Wodka and despite her efforts the little dog dies giving birth to a puppy. Andrea will take care of this by establishing a friendship with the child who will also secretly teach the trapeze's secrets. Raimondo jealous will divide the two, trusting everything to the mother. Moreover, one evening knowing Tonino listens to his father, calling him not a trapeze artist but a simple partner. The injured child while the circus is empty rises on the trapezius. A scream pierced the night, his mother and Andrea run into the circus and find Tonino poised on the trapeze. Andrea is preparing to save him and when the child is saved he tries to get off but his wrists give way and fall into space. Nothing can save him but his last wish is to feel himself called by Tonino's father. This will be the last word he hears but his death will not be useless, it will serve to Tonino's mother to better understand her son and to make her accept the idea that the boy's life is up there among the trapezoids.

Michele Massimo Tarantini (Rome, 7 August 1942) is an Italian director, screenwriter and editor.
In the early sixties he made several trades for the cinema (such as secretary, help, set designer) and then began, in 1973, as director of the crime film Seven hours of violence for an unexpected solution.
Shortly thereafter he devoted himself to directing comic-erotic films, many of which starring Lino Banfi and Alvaro Vitali.
His small foray into the detective genre, very popular in Italy in the seventies, with two discreet Violent Policemen products, starring Henry Silva and Antonio Sabàto, and Naples rebels against Luc Merenda and Enzo Cannavale.
