Synopsis
‘A Plastic Whale’, a documentary produced by Sky News, tells the story of the whale found dead in Sotra, Norway, killed by some plastic bags that stifled its internal organs. The cetacean autopsy showed that in its stomach there were 30 shopping bags, including large bags, as well as packets of potato chips and ice cream wrappers. The death of the Sotra whale, however, was not in vain: this unfortunate episode has impressed the public opinion so much that it created an extraordinary response: hundreds of volunteers mobilized to start cleaning up a 10,000-kilometer-long coastline in the North Sea, demonstrating that each of us can play our part in the fight against plastic pollution in the oceans. The documentary is part of the ‘Sky ocean rescue’ Campaign.
