BIOGRAPHY

Ivan Cotroneo is a multi-hyphenate artist who has made many TV dramas and TV series. He graduated in script writing in 1992 at the cinema academy Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia, in Rome, and since then has won many awards such as the Solinas, Moravia, Saint-Vincent Cinema in Diretta, and the literary premio letterario internazionale Merano Europa.

Over his career he has worked alongside the likes of directors such as Ozpetek in Mine Vaganti and collaborated writing the screen plays of Pappi Corsicato (Chimera, I Vesuviani), Renato De Maria (Paz! and La prima linea), Daniele Luchetti (Dillo con parole mie), Riccardo Milani (Piano, solo), Maria Sole Tognazzi (L'uomo che ama), Luca Guadagnino (Io sono l'amore).

He has also written TV dramas and shows like Un posto Tranquillo, directed by Luca Manfredi, Pinocchio by Alberto Sironi, Storia di Laura by Andrea Porporati and Sissi interpreted by Cristiana Capotondi, Tutti Pazzi per Amore, the series directed by Riccardo Milani.

He also adapted the stage script of Le Regole dell'Attrazione/The Rulef of Attraction by Bret Easton Ellis and Closer by Patrick Marber. He is the official Italian translator of the works by Hanif Kureishi and Michael Cunningham, and has published three novels:  Il re del mondo, Cronaca di un disamore and La kryptonite nella borsa which was later turned into a film he personally directed in 2011 and which premiered at the Rome International Film Festival.

In March 2016 his second feature Un bacio opened in Italy. The director spoke about this film for the first time in Giffoni 2015, where he presented its backstage. The story is about three teenagers who go to the same school and have to come to terms with the anxiety of their age, their first love, the desire and fear of growing up. The film has just  been awarded the Ciak Alice Giovani 2016.
