Ajyal Film Festival - a big success

The inaugural Ajyal Youth Film Festival, presented by the Doha Film Institute, concluded on Saturday night with the winners of the Doha Film Experience in-competition segments, chosen by hundreds of young jurors from ages 8 to 21, honoured at a closing ceremony. Abdulaziz Al-Khater, Chief Executive Officer of the Doha Film Institute, and Fatma Al Remaihi, Director of Ajyal Youth Film Festival, joined the jurors in presenting the prizes to the winners of the three categories in the Doha Film Experience.    Addressing the audience, Mr. Al-Khater said: “In our first edition, we hope that we have instilled and reinforced the love of cinema in many of you – young and young at heart. We also hope that we have ignited many interesting conversations, exchanges of ideas and point of views – amongst children, teens, and across generations. I congratulate the young jurors for their dedication and enthusiasm over the last five days in watching your films, discussing them and working hard to decide the winners.”   Al Remaihi added: “Ajyal has addressed a clear need in this part of the world in creating a platform for young audiences to discover new facets of cinema, engage in new types of conversations and expand their imagination. We will continue to build on the bonds that have been formed through the festival and support our youth and talent to pursue their dreams.”   Very glad also the artistic director of the Giffoni Experience, Claudio Gubitosi, and the President Pietro Rinaldi who followed the event throughout its duration. Enthusiastic also the Councillor for Culture of the Campania Region, Caterina Miraglia asked by the DFI to attend the event. ''It 's the first time that we export our know-how, an exclusive idea "- said Caterina Miraglia -." An extraordinary achievement, the result of a great job that ended with huge satisfaction for the region and for the Giffoni Experience''. The model of the film festival for young people, said Miraglia,'' was shot by the Government of Qatar where they preferred this format to the American school of cinema.''   The festival of Qatar, in fact, was made ​​looking to the Italian model of the Giffoni Film Festival collaborating with colleagues in the Middle East , bringing the experience of the festival for kids there that takes place every year in the small town in the province of Salerno. THE NUMBER OF SUCCESSOver 200.000 people in attendance in eleven days. 3.300 jurors from 41 Countries. tens of thousands in line to participate in premieres and special events. 5.000 people a day at the Blue Carpet. 70.000 people for 200 shows in the Giffoni Entertainment section. Over 3.000 People at the Giffoni Village. 30.000 attendees for the Giffoni Music Concept. 500 journos 15.000 articles 3.500 notes on International platforms with a 500% increase on 2012. 180 TV reports, 165 radio reports (including Podcast) 40 TV networks. 80 photoreporters for 50 Countries. 27 Masterclass experiences.   The success on the web is even more impressive: Giffoni was the biggest cultural event in Italy. a total of 1.300.000 streams, 150.000 from mobile devices. The only event with a bigger result is the European 2012 Soccer final between Itally and Spain streamed on Rai.tv. 450.000 people whatched the Naya Rivera event and another 400.000 tried to gain access. The website received over 503.871 hits in July. The Facebook likes went from 33.965 in 2012 to 68.756 in 2013. that's a 200% increase. over 16.234.546 users saw its posts around the world. over 418.023 users during the last festival week. Following the first edition of the Giffoni Macedonia held in October in Skopje, the active collaboration with the ’Ajyal Youth Film Festival in Qatar, carried out in November by the Doha Film Institute, we are ready for the second edition of Giffoni in Brazil planned at the bottom of 2014. Giancarlo Giannini at GFF-Sao Paulo

This morning the program of the first edition of the Giffoni Sao Paulo Film Festival was presented to the international press and Brazilian institutions. Special guest of the presentation, one of the greatest actors of world cinema, Giancarlo Giannini, who, tomorrow, will meet the 400 jurors from 10 countries, and discuss with them about his movie "Ti ho cercato in tutti i necrologi" which will have its world premiere at the Memorial de America Latina.   The press conference was attended by Marco Scabia, director of the GiffoniSao Paulo Film Festival, Floriano Pesaro, representative of Prefeitura of Sao Paulo, Diego Christiano of Petrobras, Claudio Gubitosi, director and founder of the Giffoni Experience and Giancarlo Giannini. Representing the Campania Region on behalf of the Governor Stefano Caldoro, there was the Assessore alla Cultura Caterina Miraglia, for the City of Giffoni Valle Piana, the Mayor Paolo Russomando, the on. Generoso Andria, Honorary President of the Giffoni Experience and Pietro Rinaldi, President of the Giffoni Media Service.   On the agenda today the first two of the 16 films in competition, O Palhaço and Xingu .
