OVER 90 TALENTS AND 9 EXTRAORDINARY MEET THE STARS AT #GIFFONI2018

THE TALENTS

The two protagonists of 'Ant-Man and the Wasp' will be the talents with which this 48th  edition of the Giffoni Film Festival will open. PAUL RUDD and EVANGELINE LILLY, soon to appear in Italian cinemas with the sequel about the beloved Marvel superhero Ant-Man, on July 20th, will meet the numerous jurors, who are also aficionados of the saga. The two American actors, coming off the great success that the second Ant-man film gained oversea, will meet the young audience of the festival and talk about the landmarks of their career. On the same day there will also be space for the social phenomenon I SOLDI SPICCI, the young Sicilian couple that became famous through their exhilarating comedy sketches on the web. A highly anticipated return will be that of FERZAN ÖZPETEK on July 21st who will present to the young audience Whatastar: an app created in collaboration with 'App to you'. It is considered to be the first 'Social Talent Show' in the world and it was made with the purpose to discover new talents through smartphone. Özpetek, who has rightly entered the Olympus of the great international artists thanks to unforgettable films, will tell the boys and girls of Giffoni about his long experience in film-making, going from his beginning as an assistant to Lamberto Bava and Marco Risi, up to his success with 'Facing Windows', 'The Ignorant Fairies' and 'Saturn in Opposition'. Also awaited on the same day the idols of the small screen CRISTIANO CACCAMO and MARIASOLE POLLIO - both on the set of the cult series Don Matteo -, together with ANNA VALLE back from the success obtained by the Rai TV series 'Sorelle'. Key player of the author films scene of the last years, FRANCESCO SCIANNA will be one of the guests on Sunday July 22nd. The actor, who was chosen by Tornatore to star in Baarìa, will enchant the jurors of the Generator sections by telling the story of his professional journey: from the stage of the Silvio D'Amico Academy of Dramatic Arts up to the big roles for Placido and Özpetek. Faces well known to the millennials are also the other guests that will come on the same day. First FRANCESCA CHILLEMI and DIANA DEL BUFALO - both irony experts in a 2.0 format - then FRANK MATANO - first his succes on youtube and then his career as an actor on the big screen - and last but not least FABIO TROIANO and FRANCESCA GIORDANO, both in the main cast of  the film 'Bene Ma Non Benissimo'.

British cinema that still make us dream: SAM CLAFLIN, who became famous thanks to 'Pirates of the Caribbean - Beyond the borders of the sea', will return to Giffoni on July 23rd. The young actor, that managed complex roles and interpretations for different genres - from the saga of the pirate Jack Sparrow, through the horror of 'The quiet ones'  to romantic comedies 'Love Rosie' and 'Me before you' - will meet the jurors and talk about his role in the feature film 'Adrift', which will be one of the premieres of the Festival. Also welcome is that of JASMINE TRINCA, the magnificent actress and affectionate guest of Giffoni who will compare with the jurors. A young face of Italian cinema, MATILDA DE ANGELIS also arrives at the Festival, together with the director MARCO PONTI and their 'Una vita spericolata'. Tuesday, July 24th will be the turn of LUCA ABETE, the first sent from Campania for the historic Mediaset program 'Striscia la notizia' and then creator of the motivational format#NonCiFermaNessuno, and of MACCIO CAPATONDA, actor, director and comedian that became famous thanks to  iconic characters like Padre Maronno and Inspector Catiponda. Even more international guests on the 25th. Next to make an appearance in Italian cinemas, JEREMY IRVINE is one of the new entries in the cast of 'Mamma mia! Here we go again!'. The second instalment of the franchise will be presented in national premiere right here at the Giffoni 2018. Another highly anticipated meeting is the one with ILENIA PASTORELLI, the Roman actress who became famous thanks to the very successful role she had in the film 'They call me Jeeg'. On the same day in Giffoni will also be SIMONA CAVALLARI, the protagonist of successful TV series such as 'Il capo dei capi', 'Squadra antimafia - Palermo today' and 'Le mani dentro la città'. July 26th will be accompanied by the histrionic talent of ROCCO PAPALEO and by actress and model SARAH FELBERBAUM. Both will meet and discuss with the jurors of the Generator sections. Penultimate day of the Festival in the sign of two champions ALESSANDRO SIANI, next to the return behind the camera with the film 'Sorrento New York' and GIANMARCO TOGNAZZI, back from the success of 'A casa tutti bene' by Gabriele Muccino. Space also for emerging talents like that of LUDOVICA COSCIONE, the young actress who played Mia's role in Rai 1 fiction 'Non dirlo al mio capo'. The closing day is Saturday July 28th with the comic duo FICARRA & PICONE that will present to the jury their short film 'Processo a Chinnici'.
