Elements +6 proposes Tainá – An Amazon Legend by Rosane Svartman (Brasil, 2013), at 3.00pm in Sala Alberto Sordi.  Tainá is a 5 year old orphan Indian girl, who lives in the Amazon Rainforest and dreams of becoming a warrior and discovering her true origin. Along the way, she makes unexpected friends: Laurinha, a lost city girl, and Gobí, a native American. The three children learn to overcome their mutual differences.  Tainá, in particular, confronts the ancestral enemy of her family, Jurupari, the incarnation of Evil, who wants to destroy the Forest.

Elements+10 continues with Counting Dreams by Amole Gupte (India, 2014) at 9.30am in Sala Alberto Sordi. Mumbai, India. Lucky Bhargav, passionate skating champion and coach, wheels in to give wings to children. When the young Arjun discovers the sport of skating, he dreams of speeding on wheels. Together with a band of friends, he sets off to fulfil the dream that is not allowing him to sleep, eyes wide open with hope. Will Arjun's dream come true?

For Generator+13 there is Skating to New York by Charles Minsky (USA, 2013) at 2.30pm in Sala Truffaut. Five friends, in a high school hockey team in a small Canadian town, lose a big game. Feeling like losers and hammed in by their circumstances at home, they decide to skate across the frozen lake Ontario from Canada to New York, on the coldest day of the year. Along the journey, they will strengthen their friendship and will help each other to face their fears and not give up on their dreams.

On schedule for Generator+16, Exit Marrakech directed by Caroline Link (Germany, 2013) at 10.00am in Sala Truffaut. Ben, 17 years old, and his father Heinrich are to spend their summer vacation together in Marrakech. Ben has had little contact with his father since his parents' divorce. As the two of them continue to drift further and further apart, Ben leaves his father's luxury hotel and sets out on his own search in this world unknown to him. He falls in love with the young Karima and follows her to her remote village in the Atlas Mountains. Heinrich, not hearing from Ben for days, begins looking for his missing son.

Generator +18 presents Above Dark Waters by Peter Franzén (Finland, 2013) at 10:00 in Sala Lumière. In the 1970s, in Lapland, little Pete is terrified that he’s about to start school. His mother, Eeva, tries her best to protect her children from Pete’s stepfather’s bursts of violence, but she’s not up to getting a divorce, as it would damage her reputation  in the eyes of the small village they live in. Pete’s real father would like to be a part of his life, but the stepfather makes that hard. It will be up to the grandparents’ wisdom to keep the children further from evil thoughts and give Pete courage to push on.

GEx Doc goes on with American Vagabond by Susanna Helke (USA/Finland, 2013), scheduled at 15:10 in Sala Lumière. James is a boy on the run from his parents’ home in a provincial town, because they can’t accept his being gay. Together with his boyfriend Tyler, he searches for refuge in San Francisco, which he assumes he’s a gay Eldorado. Instead, they end up stranded in a world  of other kicked-out youth like them. Eventually, James will have to face his past, and also the place and people he has left behind.

Out of competition, for Elements +3 kids is scheduled for screening That Boy Emil by Per Ahlin, Lasse Persson and Alicja Jaworski Bjork (Sweden, 2013), at 18:00 in Sala Alberto Sordi. Emil lives with his family on a farm called Katthult, in Southern Sweden. He’s a sweet little boy who likes to help out, but his helpfulness often turns into mischief. He’s then sent to the woodshed, until someone lets him out and he can get into mischief again.
