Io Rom Romantica preview at Giffoni Film Festival

The preview of Io Rom Romantica, Laura Halilovic first full-lenght film, has been presented at Giffoni Film Festival. The film (produced by Wildside in collaboration with Rai Cinema and supported by the Guarantor Authority for childhood and adolescence) will be released on July 24 and distributed by Good Films. The story follows Gioia (Claudia Ruza Djordjevic), eighteen year old rom who doesn't want to get married, as her tradition teaches, with a man of her same ethnic group. She wants to become an Italian citizen, start a career as a film director and find the true love.

The story is strongly autobiographical. "When I was 8 – explains Halilovic at Giffoni – I only had one desire: cinema. Blame on Woody Allen and his masterpiece Manhattan! I was sure cinema would have allowed me to be recognised as a normal girl". At that time, her ambition contrasted with her community's belief (her family comes from Bosnia-Erzegovina's roms) that considers cinema as pornography.

The Italian actor Marco Bocci is the co-protagonist that plays Alessandro, Gioia's counselor.
