A stamp dedicated to Giffoni for the European Year of Youth

A stamp dedicated to Giffoni to celebrate 2022 being the European Year of Youth. In this perspective, the Ministry of Economic Development has decided to issue an ordinary stamp belonging to the thematic series "The Italian artistic and cultural Heritage" dedicated to "Giffoni52 2022 European Year of Youth". The issue all over Italy is scheduled for tomorrow, Monday 25th July. At the same time, Giffoni will host a ceremony in which the stamp will be officially unveiled. The Italian Minister for Economic Development, Giancarlo Giorgetti, will do it. The President of the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato (State Mint and Polygraphic Institute), Antonio Palma, will also be present, with the participation of Poste Italiane executives.

"Giffoni is considered to be the event that more than any other has presented, in over fifty years, the beauty, energy and ability to aggregate - says founder Claudio Gubitosi - bringing together different cultures and realities. Giffoni has never ceased to dialogue with its youth, keeping alive a tight thread of sharing and passion, even in the midst of lockdown. For over half a century, we have been working with and for the youth, developing our activities into dozens of special projects that take place all over the world and throughout the year. We are proud, therefore, that the Ministry of Economic Development and Poste Italiane have decided to create a stamp specifically dedicated to us in such an important year for our young people.” "The Giffoni Film Festival has a very important mission, with a great purpose: to put art and culture at the heart of the debate, through the centralisation and valorisation of the outskirts" - states the President of the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato, Antonio Palma - "The ladder on the stamp symbolises this: an ascending climax that starts from the bottom and lifts up the values. This splendid metaphor evokes the effect of progression that made the Festival thrive over time".

The stamp, created by the artist Federica D'Ambrosio from Salerno, features a machine that projects the logo of Giffoni and officially launches the Festival in front of a crowded audience of youths, eager to confront each other and grow together, finally projecting themselves toward a future that is marked by happiness. Behind them, a staircase symbolising the desire to go beyond, to climb towards the elsewhere, to pursue dreams that fly among the stars, among crescents, confetti, and festive elements that are referred to the joy of living. No one has a defined face, just as no one has a geographical identity: they are all men and women, without distinction, who will once again shake each other's hand to form a network and overcome all barriers in what has been their home for the last 52 years. The home of creativity, of thought, of culture, of challenge. A home where nothing is impossible to achieve.
