Phaim Bhuiyan: his big dream, from suburban streets to David di Donatello

Phaim Bhuiyan brightened up the atmosphere in Sala Verde, which is now a home for giffoners of Generator +18 section. He talked about his career that took off with ‘Bangla’, feature film released in 2019 under Fandango production label. It enabled him to become one of the most renowned personalities in the new Italian film industry.

Phaim got along with young Generator +18"giffoners really quick: “I’m so chilled-out” he said as he stepped on stage in Sala Verde. It’s his first time at Giffoni, but he won’t forget this experience for sure. He told the audience about his meeting with Freemantle leaders happened almost by chance: “Everything was so unexpected, at that time I was only 20, working on my dissertation.” Since he started from filming music videos in the streets and discos, it was quite impressive for him to be awarded a David di Donatello for Best New Director. He is a dreamer, grown up exposed to Bollywood vibes, as he said: “My mother got VHS delivered to her”. He won the Explosive Talent Award, a Generator +18 giffoners’ gift to him before saying goodbye.
