Films in competition on July 24th

Body positivity, the discovery of the other, the path to recover self-confidence, the transition to adulthood, the parent-child relationship, love without labels, but also delicate topics like bulimia, anorexia and multiple sclerosis: the 118 works in competition will recount all of that at Giffoni 2022. On Sunday, July 24, in the Sala Truffaut (GENERATOR +13) we begin at 10:00 a.m. with the “TRAVIATA MY BROTHER AND I", directed by Yohan Manca. At 2:00 p.m., a young racing driver is the protagonist of “JESUS LOPEZ”, an 87 minutes feature film for the Generator +16 section. The director Maximiliano Schonfeld leads the audience on the story that takes shape after the dramatic car accident: Jesus Lopez dies and his cousin Abel, an aimless teenager, feels the temptation to take his place. Then, the turnoff: in his village they arrange a car race and the outcome will decree if the transformation of Abel in Jesus will become definitive or not.

In the Sala Alberto Sordi, section ELEMENTS +10, here there is “LAST FILM SHOW”. The passion for cinema involves everyone in an Indian village. Samay doesn’t have enough money for the ticket but corrupts the projectionist: films in the cabin, in return of the meals prepared by his mother. Even his friends are captured by the magic of cinema to the point of building, far from the eyes of the adults, a rudimental movie theatre. Is this passion understood by his father too? Pan Nalin’s work will be replicated at 2:30 p.m., always in the Sala Sordi.

In the Sala Galileo, the Generator +18 members will witness, starting from 10:00 a.m., “Nitram”, a story of isolation and frustration that takes shape in the suburban Australia, in the mid-‘90s. Nitram is able to come out of isolation when meets a friend, the heiress Helen, but the relationship ends with a tragic epilogue and for Nitram, alone and angry again, begins her slow decline. In the heart of Paris, on the other hand, dance and hip hop overcome and become the means to integrate the students from the popular districts and to break the cycle of academic failure. This is the leitmotif of “Rookies”, category Gex Doc, in the Sala Galileo at 2:45 p.m.. Free entry until exhaustion of the seats. Priority will be given to the parents of the ELEMENTS +6 and +10 section.
