Films in competition on July 25th

When 9-year-old Babs receives a piglet named Oink as a gift from her grandfather, she convinces her parents to keep it, on the condition that Oink attends puppy training. But Bab's parents are not the real threat to Oink, because Babs' grandfather has in fact a secret plan. Fun intrigue and twists and turns will lead the youngest jurors of the Elements +6 section to the vision of "OINK", the feature film that will be screened on July, 25th at 10:00 a.m. in the Sala Lumiére, then repeated at 2:30 p.m. Directed by Mascha Halberstad, screenplay by Fiona van Heemstra, based on Oink's Revenge.

In Sala Galileo, at 2:45 p.m. for the Gex Doc section, there is Far Away for Home, directed by Carlos Hernández Vázquez. The story is gripping: in the refugee shelters of Tijuana, the waiting is long and uncertain for a group of children and adolescents from Mexico and Latin America. They all wait for their asylum application to be accepted in order to enter the United States. Entrance in the theatre is free until full capacity, but priority will be given to parents of Elements +6 and +10. Director Carlos Hernández Vázquez has been selected for Talents Berlin 2018, the annual summit of the Berlin International Film Festival dedicated to the brightest filmmaking talents. He graduated from EAVE Puentes 2020, a major training programme for the development of European-Latin American co-productions. Carlos has produced 9 feature films. "Donald Trump's immigration policies, which have remained unchanged during the Biden administration with the endorsement of the Mexican government, have turned the northern border of my country into a funnel where thousands of people have to wait several months to start their immigration procedures in the United States. The migratory process in the region has changed substantially, we no longer speak of male migrants looking for work, now the migration consists of families or children travelling alone, fleeing the violence of their countries and regions", said the director.
