Five thousand jurors from all over the world at #Giffoni2022: here’s the picture representing the 52nd edition, which will be dedicated to the Invisibles

Giffoni is back to its usual impressive figures and is getting ready to welcome the most beloved artists among young people and beyond. From July 21 to 30, more than 5,000 jurors will attend Giffoni, divided into the following sections: Elements +3, +6, +10 and Generator+13, +16 and +18. In addition to them, there will be 200 young people from the Impact! section, the jurors’ parents to whom the Parental Experience section is dedicated, and the real-life films of Gex Doc. Besides Italy, jurors will also come from: Albania, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iran, Northern Macedonia, Poland, Qatar, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom and the United States.

WHAT’S NEW. More than 250 talents will be welcomed at #Giffoni2022. The directors of the films in competition will be back in person, along with international guests, who will meet with the young people. There will be plenty of novelties related to the talents, including an increasingly significant participation of women: actresses, directors, influencers and opinion leaders will be the agents of change with their energy. Even more space will be given to young film and audiovisual professionals, with the involvement of a large number of under-30 professionals who bear witness to their industry's ability and desire for renewal. Among them will be a large delegation of cinema professionals from Campania who, after turning their region into a hotbed of creativity and innovation, have managed to make themselves known beyond national borders. Another eagerly awaited comeback is the Vivo Giffoni - Street Fest project: street artists, musicians and dancers will enliven the streets of Giffoni in a colorful and festive atmosphere. Also, there will be the Village, with games and creative workshops open to the public. Last but not least, great music will also be back with 10 free live performances featuring the most interesting names on the Italian scene.

THE THEME AND THE PICTURE. This year’s theme will be The Invisibles, to which Giffoni's new picture is dedicated. The artwork was created by Laura Pagliaro, a young Campanian artist born in 1998 who, after graduating from the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, was chosen to design the graphic novel that Giffoni is publishing every month to celebrate the 130th anniversary of the newspaper Il Mattino. A remarkable success, to the point that she was also commissioned to create the official image of the 2022 edition of the festival, in which she captured with grace and poetry a theme that is not easy to portray.

A boundless sky, an earth-born starlight that hints at the mysterious bond between distant lives, making invisible bonds visible, revealing the presence of those who often remain in the shadows. The protagonists of this picture are passers-by, individuals who are only apparently anonymous because, if observed closely, they reveal a great deal of fascination. They hold in their hands the grandeur of a dream, shining dust, the emblem of a vision and a promise of beauty. The composition of the image almost invites the viewer to become part of the scene. It enhances the opportunity for invisible existences and stories to reveal themselves in all their uniqueness.

"In the future, there will be no other path to take but the one that leads with commitment and determination to a proper revolution: the revolution of the invisible," explains Giffoni General Manager Jacopo Gubitosi. "Today millions of kids are dropping out of school: they are victims of educational poverty, and no one ever talks about that. There are refugees and those who are fighting to assert their ideas. There are youngsters who feel their diversity as a disvalue, there are unconventional young people who do not understand the world and that the world does not seem to understand. Also, there are men and women who are able to achieve extraordinary feats in their daily lives even though society seems not to notice them. These and many others are the invisible and #Giffoni2022 will be their ideal and safe place".
