Mark Flanagan takes Giffoners into the virtual reality of Epic Games

It's a journey not only into the virtual reality of video games, but also into the complex world from which games, and especially epic games, emerge. Mark Flanagan, education partner manager of Epic Games, the development house behind Fortnite, talks for an hour to the Giffoni people at IMPACT! during a meeting organised by Giffoni Innovation Hub.
Many topics were covered: from how to capture the real world in order to create your own to the incredible potential of MetaHuman Creator, a special tool that allows you to create frighteningly real faces. "For humans," Flanagan explains, "it's important to see other humans, which is why we aim for high quality". Giffoners are also intrigued by the metaverse, which is however presented "not as something utopian but as something that can take people who can't travel or who have illnesses or difficulties to travel. Not only that, in the metaverse there would be no need for translation".
Space is also given to technologies that elevate the role of the actor: "The figure of the actor will not disappear - he explains - but it will evolve. There are actors who specialise in animation, just think of masterpieces like Lord of the Rings or Planet of the Apes. You can see the emotion, the humanity behind those who work in animation".
