Dreaming In New York, #Giffoni50Plus opens to step dance moves

One step after the other, one note after the other: the #Giffoni50Plus edition opens with a highly anticipated national première, Dreaming in New York - In the heights. In Italian cinemas from the 22nd of July for Warner Bros. Pictures, the musical arrives at the Festival a day earlier to give the Generator +13 jurors all the energy of dance. The story, directed by Jon M. Chu, has the magic touch of a stage veteran, Lin-Manuel Miranda of Hamilton, who adapted it from Broadway. The title recalls a neighbourhood in Manhattan, Washington Heights, a true cultural melting pot. In the name of diversity and integration, the story is a multi-ethnic anthem of a group of young people ready to fight for their talent. The main character Usnavi (Anthony Ramos) dreams of returning to his home country, the Dominican Republic, and saves the fruit of his hard work in the workshop he runs with his grandmother. A breath of fresh air arrives with his friend Nina (Leslie Grace), whom he has known since childhood and who returns "home" after university with many changes. The local community is an extended family full of hopes, desires and daily difficulties. For better or worse, however, they stick together side by side. Against the backdrop of an unprecedented New York, this love letter to one's origins becomes an explosion of emotions that will make anyone dance, even in a cinema seat.
