Paola Cortellesi to the giffoners: “Schools need to teach gender equality”

Nobody, at least in the world of cinema, embodies gender equality better than Paola Cortellesi, who won three Nastro d’Argento Awards (Silver Ribbons). Therefore, it was inevitable that the topic would be central in the questions asked by the giffoners talking from different Italian hubs, who joined the live stream with the famous Italian actress at Sala Truffaut and Sala Galileo.

I hope that education on gender respect will be included in the subjects taught at school”, she pointed out during her video call to #Giffoni50. The actress will be the narrating voice in the documentary by Peter Marcias, which deals with the figure of Nilde Iotti, “one of the mothers of Assemblea Costituente (Italian Constituent Assembly), a passionate partisan and an activist who fought for civil rights. She shattered taboos and emancipated the Italian society, marking the milestones of valuable and collective growth”. She was the first woman to be President of the Chamber of Deputies, she fought for the institution of a pension and insurance in favour of housewives, but also for “the establishment of divorce, the reform of family law and for sexual violence regulations”. During the meeting Cortellesi promised the giffoners that she would be present at the edition of the Festival that the director Claudio Gubitosi has already named Giffoni50+. “We are experiencing a Festival which is different than usual - declared the creator and founder of Giffoni Opportunity - but by no means less beautiful. We are already working for the 2021’s edition”.
