MATILDA DE ANGELIS E MARCO PONTI, FRANCESCO SCIANNA AND ILENIA PASTORELLI: THE FIRST ITALIAN TALENTS OF THE 48th EDITION

Waiting for Tuesday, July 10, when the full program of #Giffoni2018 will be unveiled during the press conference in Marina d’Arechi – Salerno

Less than a month to the 48th edition of the Giffoni Film Festival: there is a growing expectation for the Italian talents who, from 20 to 28 July, will meet jurors and giffoners. The complete program will be presented on Tuesday, July 10 at the “Marina d’Arechi Salerno Port Village”, during the official presentation press conference, in the structure designed by the starchitect Santiago Calatrava. Among the first Italian talents who will meet jurors and giffoners: Matilda de Angelis, Marco Ponti, Francesco Scianna and Ilenia Pastorelli.

Francesco Scianna will meet the public on Sunday, July 22, to tell his experience as an actor. Born in Palermo 36 years ago, Scianna achieved international celebrity in 2009 thanks to the film “Baaria” by Giuseppe Tornatore, and then strengthened his success the following year with Vallanzasca by Michele Placido, presented at the Venice Film Festival. In this film, Scianna plays the criminal Francis Turatello. He worked in many fictions, with great success among critics and audience, even though his great love is still cinema, to which he returned working in “L’industriale” by Giuliano Montaldo and “Itaker”, directed by Toni Trupia and which earned him a nomination for the Nastri d’Argento for Best Actor.

On July 23, the affection of the giffoners and the audience enthusiasm will overwhelm director Marco Ponti, (“Santa Maradona” (2001), “A/R Andata e Ritorno” (2004), “Passione Sinistra” (2012), “Io che amo solo te” (2015), “La cena di Natale” (2016)), who will meet the public together with the young Matilda de Angelis, star of his latest film, “Una vita spericolata”.

Very active also in music, Ponti directed videos/documentaries with Vasco Rossi, Lorenzo Jovanotti, Emma, Elisa and Giuliano Sangiorgi, as well as writing screenplays for Disney comics, theater and television. Matilda de Angelis, on the other hand, started her artistic career at a very young age: at eleven she began to study music with violin and acoustic guitar, and when she was only 13 she composed the lyrics and music of her first songs. In 2014 she was discovered by director Matteo Rovere, who chose her as the protagonist of his film “Veloce come il vento”. Matilda won a Nastro d'Argento for her performance, and was back on set in 2015, as the protagonist of the Italian version of the American series “Parenthood”, entitled “Tutto può succedere”. Her latest work is “Una vita spericolata”, preceded by “Il Premio” by Alessandro Gassman and “Youtopia”, by Berardo Carboni.

On July 25th, Ilenia Pastorelli will meet jurors and giffoners: the young Roman actress made her debut – directed by Gabriele Mainetti – in the acclaimed “Lo chiamavano Jeeg Robot”, that won her the 2016 David di Donatello Award for Best actress in a leading role. Also in 2016, with Raoul Bova she starred in the music video for the song of Biagio Antonacci One day, a tribute to Pino Daniele. In the summer of the same year, Marco Giusti called her to co-host with Fabrizio Biggio the summer edition of “Stracult” on Rai2. In 2017 she was selected by Carlo Verdone to play the role of Luna in “Benedetta Follia”, and she has just finished filming “Cosa fai a Capodanno!?”, directed by Filippo Bologna, and “Non ci resta che il crimine”, by Massimiliano Bruno.
