Seven billion people, every day, wish for what they do not have. Ernesto (Alessandro Haber), a 60-year-old pharmacist, married, father to a son, is convinced that happiness is measured by possessions. Although he already received a lot in life, he is dissatisfied. In constant search for escape,  Ernesto alternates the routine of family life with squalid one-nigh-stands. Laura (Donatella Finocchiaro) is a 44-year-old woman who aspires to have the serene and shimmering life that is only found on the TV screen. Instead, she finds herself without a job, with a mortgage that she struggles to pay and an 18-year-old daughter, Matilde (Matilda De Angelis), to care for.

Matilde, to escape from a reality that cannot give her what she desires, finds refuge on the internet. Here, she discovers a completely different world and a shortcut for easy money: using her body undressing in front of a webcam. The girl learns about her mother's many financial difficulties and offers to help her, revealing to her how she makes money. Consequentially, their relationship is upset forever. Unfortunately, the striptease shows don’t pay enough to cover their debts, and the loss of their house becomes an increasingly concrete possibility for Laura and Matilde.  Therefore, the girl decides to hold an online auction to sell her virginity; her mother, though desperate and heartbroken, gives her consent.

Ernesto, in his constant search for strong emotions and new 'things' to own, manages to win the auction. Matilde for him represents extreme transgression, but also the idea of being able to buy purity. The worlds of Ernesto, Matilde and Laura will become inextricably bound together.
