“The best way to help Giffoni in its growth is leaving it in peace. However, things haven’t always been so”. So said Vice President of the Chamber of Deputies Luigi Di Maio, today’s guest at the Giffoni Film Festival. “Every time I come – the M5S parliamentarian went on – I find more than the year before. The first time I came here, I told director Gubitosi that I wanted to find a way to help Giffoni. Afterwards, I realised that the best way to help Giffoni in its growth is leaving it in peace, even if it hasn’t always been so. Giffoni is everyone’s treasure, thus we must let it grow independently without believing we can own it. The GFF must be defended and supported”.
As for the theme chosen for Giffoni Film Festival 2016 edition, Di Maio commented: “It’s an extraordinary theme. Our country’s destination is the real problem. When director Gubitosi planned the GFF, he came up with a long-lasting project. The lack of long-lasting projects is the real problem of our country. We must take into account youth ideas, exactly those incubated here, those that represent the core business of the most innovative countries”.
