Charleston summons Giffoni: a new adventure on schedule next October in the USA

One of the forthcoming destination set for the Giffoni Film Festival is Charleston, South Carolina, where the prestigious college of the same name is based and where Giovanna De Luca, professor of Italian and Italian cinema born in San Giorgio a Cremano, for years have been organizing the Nuovo Cinema Italiano Film Festival, that occurs every year in October. The 2016 edition runs October 6-9 and will also be attended by Giffoni Film Festival Director Claudio Gubitosi, who will seize the opportunity to make official the new partnership between the two festivals.

Gubitosi is going to return the visit that his counterpart De Luca made during the 8th day of the festival in order to make initial contacts. “Everything was born during a meeting with Italian consul in Miami Gloria Marina Belelli – told the director of Italo-American festival – who exhorted us to start a collaboration with Italy, and the Giffoni Festival in particular. Our festival is addressed to university students and, just like yours, is based on the educational value of cinema”.

Giffoni brand, once more, proves to be an “exportable model”, like it has actually been for years in Europe and other continents as well. “The greatest thing about this festival – Giovanna De Luca went on – is to see all this children of different ages and colours united by cinema”.
