Amber Heard excited about the Festival: “I’d love to take a piece of Giffoni away with me”

I’ve always been in love with Italy, but Giffoni really conquered my heart”: actress and philanthropist AMBER HEARD couldn’t hide her excitement while telling Giffoni 2019 jurors how happy she was to be surrounded by them. “New generations represent the future, and power lies in their hands. The era of Presidents and CEOs giving academic lessons is now over. The new media give anyone the opportunity to have their own voice”. After the screening of the welcome video, she turned to the audience and said: “This is such a great surprise!” and then, in Italian, she thanked all of them saying “Grazie”. Miming a heart with her hands, she added: “This means a lot to me. It would be great if I could start every day of my professional life in this way. I’d love to take a piece of Giffoni away with me”.

Amber Heard also confessed the jurors that she is not very familiar with Italian cinema: “I wish I knew it better – she revealed – but I’m always on set and I rarely have enough time to watch a film from the beginning to the end. However, if you draw up a list, I’ll be happy to watch them”. Afterwards, she instilled hope in a girl who shared the dream of becoming a film director: “Please, send me the script because I want to read it – she affirmed – We need film directors just like you”.

After reminding the youth not to let rules define them (“Break all of them and, when you’ve reached the limits, break those too”), she exhorted them to ensure their voice is heard: “Being on set and saying my lines is not enough for me. I want to make the difference and I am willing to trigger the change I want to see in the world”.With her broad smile and overwhelming energy, she also covered the female issues that are close to her heart: “It’s been 15 years since I started talking about women’s social issues and, today, people have eventually begun to listen. Time is now and we must take action all together. Let’s make the world better and fairer than how we found it”. As for her professional future, she confessed: “2020 is going to be an amazing year. I will be in Aquaman 2 and The Stand. The latter is based on one of my favourite books ever from Stephen King, he’s a very inspiring author”.
