Here are the films in competition on July 25 at #Giffoni2019

Contentious relationships, drug addiction, challenges and love are among the main themes of the films in competition today. Screenings start at 10:00 in Sala Truffaut with BLINDED BY THE LIGHT (UK, 2019), a film by Gurinder Chadha for Generator+13 section which tells a joyful story of courage and love, hope and family bonds, where music shows its unique ability to raise human spirit.

At the same time, in Sala Sordi, Elements+10 children will be called to express their critical judgement on ROMY’S SALOON (Germany, 2019), a family story of loneliness and new opportunities by Mischa Kamp. Sala Lumière is set to host RACETIME (Canada, 2018) by Benoit Godbout, on schedule at 10:00 for Elements+6 kids: Frankie-Four-Eyes and his team, including Sophie as the driver, take on the newcomers: the mysterious and conceited Zac and his athletic cousin Charly.

At 14:30 in Sala Truffaut, Generator +16 youth will enjoy METEORITES (France, 2018) by Romain Laguna: an adventure of dreams and great expectations. GEX DOC section will attend the screening of ANGELS ARE MADE OF LIGHT (USA, Denmark, Norway, 2018), a film by James Longley on schedule for 14:45 in Sala Blu -Grimaldi Lines, where the American documentarist offers a wide and deeply sympathetic portrait of Afghan students and teachers who still survive their nation’s turmoil. At 19:15 in Sala Lumière is the turn of FAMILY FIRST (Canada, 2018) by Sophie Dupuis, a film for Generator+18 jurors revolving around a family of addicts, suspended between love and obsession.

Last but not least, Elements +3 kids are set to attend the screening of 11 among the shorts in competition at the 49th edition, starting from 19:00 in Sala Sordi: ATHLETICUS: SYNCHRONISED TRAMPOLINE (France, 2019) by Nicolas Deveaux, COUCOULEURS (Switzerland, 2019) by Oana Lacroix, GIRAFFE (Germany, 2018) by Julia Ocker, KOYAA – ELUSIVE PAPER (Slovenia, 2019) by Kolja Saksida, MILES AWAY (Switzerland, 2018) by Barbara Brunner, MOKA (UK, 2019) by Valeria Weerasinghe, THE NIGHT FAIRYTALE (Russia, 2019) by Maria Stepanova, PINS AND NEEDLES (Ireland, 2019) by Julien Celin and Kerrie Costello, SHEEP (Germany, 2018) by Julia Ocker, SMALL SPARK (France, 2019) by Julie Rembauville and SWEETIE PIE (Switzerland, 2018) by Claudia Röthlin and Yves Gutjahr.
