Woody Harrelson at #Giffoni2019

American actor will meet the jurors of the 49th edition and receive the FRANÇOIS TRUFFAUT AWARD


Woody Harrelson is set to visit #Giffoni19: tomorrow the American actor will meet the Giffoners of the 49th edition of the festival to discuss his incredible career and receive the prestigious François Truffaut Award. Harrelson will also deliver a Masterclass Cult before the Blue Carpet scheduled for 17:00 in Sala Truffaut.

In a career spanning over 30 years, Harrelson has received three Oscar nominations to date including the 1997 Miloš Forman movie Larry Flynt, Oren Movermans’ The Messenger and Martin McDonagh’s Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.  He will next be seen in the sequel to Zombieland for Ruben Fleischer, and Midway for Roland Emmerich.

Harrelson has worked extensively both in front and behind the camera. His directorial debut Lost in London, the first feature-length film to be shot in in real time and broadcast live, will be the subject of the masterclass on schedule for 100 young aspiring filmmakers in Giffoni.  He most recently starred in the third installment of The Planet of The Apes entitled War for the Planet of the Apes directed by Matt Reeves, the critically acclaimed The Edge of Seventeen for Craig Johnson, Now You See Me 1 & 2, The Hunger Games trilogy (Gary Ross and the subsequent two films by Francis Lawrence); and most recently Ron Howard’s Solo: a Star Wars Story.

His other film credits include Natural Born Killers by Oliver Stone; Terrence Malick’s The Thin Red line; Robert Altman’s A Prarie Home CompanionNo Country For Old Men directed by Joel & Ethan Coen, and White Men Can’t Jump.

Earlier this year he starred opposite Kevin Costner in The Highwaymen for Netflix and ABC’s live recreation of Norman Lear’s All in the Family with Jamie Foxx, Kerry Washington, Will Farrell and Marisa Tomei.  In 2014, he starred in True Detective with Matthew McConaughey for HBO for which he was nominated for an Emmy and SAG Award as well as a Golden Globe for Lead Actor in a miniseries.  He received first Emmy Award for his work in the hit TV Show Cheers.
