Films In Competition On August 18

A journey through feelings and emotions in the name of fragility and pain: adolescence, addiction, future and restlessness are the main themes of the first competing films of the Giffoni Film Festival 50th edition. At 3:50pm, in Sala Truffaut, there will be BLACK CONFLUX (Canada, 2019) by Nicole Dorsey. Together with the Generators+16, we will learn about the story of an anxious and disenchanted teenager and an alienated and troubled man, united in the search for femininity, isolation and toxic masculinity.
In Sala Galileo, at 3:30pm, the Generators+18 will judge the film PACIFIED (Brazil, 2019) by Paxton Winters. The film is about Tati, an introspective 13 year-old girl who struggles with building a relationship with her father, Jaca, after he has been released from jail, in the turbulent atmosphere preceding the Olympic Games in Rio. While the men of the Unidade de Polícia Pacificadora fight in order to maintain a weak occupation of the favelas in Rio, Tati and Jaca work their way through the conflicting forces that threaten their hopes for the future.
