Biography

Alessandro Mahmoud, known as Mahmood, was born in Milan in 1992 of Italian mother and Egyptian father. Very passionate since a very young age about pop, urban, and R&B music, at 18 he begins to study singing, piano and solfège, and in 2016 he takes part for the first time in the Sanremo Festival, in the Giovani (Young talents) section with the song "Dimentica", ranking fourth.
An appreciated author, he wrote songs for Elodie (Nero Bali), Michele Bravi (Presi Male) and Marco Mengoni (Hola – I say), and he signed refrains for Fabri Fibra (Luna) and Gué Pequeno (Doppio Whisky). In 2018 he debuted with his first official EP, "Gioventù Bruciata", followed by the same name album, and in 2019 he won the Sanremo Festival with the song "Soldi". In May 2019 he represented Italy in Tel Aviv at the Eurovision Song Contest, ranking second.
