MASHAA - EVENTUALLY WE GROW

Category: Edition 2020

Synopsis
EVENTUALLY WE GROW gives voice to the stories and ideas of the children of Nairobi, narrating their passion for cinema and acting. Masha, a young man who grew up in Dagoretti's slum, remembers through successive flashbacks the moments in which as a child he began to cultivate the desire to tell the reality in which he lives. Masha's story represents that of many children and young people who are part of the Dagoretti Child Development Center, managed by Amref since 1999, within which the film production company "Dagoretti Film Center" was born. The DFC produces films with a participatory approach, combining the development of a social business with the professional training and job placement of young talents. This methodology, used in all phases of production, gives voice to those who own ownership to talk about their own experience, enhancing the different perspective of their gaze and strengthening the potential for spreading the messages communicated. Through the "Different Perspective Approach" children, young people and communities are involved in awareness-raising and training activities, which make them catalysts of collective transformation processes, also realized through the first-person narrative of the African continent. Dagoretti Film Center has already received awards in international festivals and reviews for the production and realization of the film THE CUT.
