JUNIORS

Category: Generator +13

Jordan and Patrick are fourteen and live in a boring country town in the south of France. To fight boredom they play Call of Duty, until one day their PlayStation 4 breaks down. The two young men have no choice but to buy a new console. To raise enough money, they make up that Jordan has cancer and set up an online fundraising so Jordan can be cured of his fake illness. But as money flows, they quickly turn into local stars and the lie gets away from them, threatening their friendship.

After a childhood split between housing estates in the North and the countryside of Savoy, Hugo moves to Paris to pursue his cinema dreams at l’École de la Cité. His encounter with Marielle Gautier and the Boukherma brothers leads to several short films and a notable first feature film: “Willy The First.” “Juniors” delves into the theme of isolation in peripheral France through the genre of the teen movie, showcasing characters willing to do anything to escape. This is the first feature he directs on his own.

"I aspired to create a film that drew inspiration from my teenage years spent in the French countryside. Despite having access to everything through the Internet, I felt an overwhelming sense of isolation, as if I were stranded in the midst of nowhere. This paradox shaped my identity and continues to resonate with many teenagers. I wish for this movie to help adults in gaining a deeper understanding of young people and for present-day teenagers to see themselves reflected in my story."
