Biography

Francesco Apolloni is a director, writer, actor, journalist and producer from Rome. 

Graduated at the Silvio D'amico Academy of Dramatic Arts, he continued his training by attending workshops directed by Michael Margotta, Bernard Hiller, Ivana Chubbuck, and participated in courses at The Actors Studio Los Angeles.

He has written, directed, performed and produced numerous plays for the theatre, written and published novels, made documentaries, short films and movies. Many of his works have participated in festivals and have won numerous awards from both audiences and critics. As a director he has also carried out social campaigns against drugs and in favour of research for the fight against cancer.

His last film as director and screenwriter was Addio al nubilato, produced by Minerva Pictures, Rai Cinema and Amazon Prime, which was one of the most viewed films on primevideoit (Amazon).  His previous films as a director are: La verità vi prego sull'amore, Fate come noi, Un sueno a Mitad

He is master coach and co-founder of Startalenti, the first platform of online video training courses for aspiring actors, directors, screenwriters.

As an actor, he has worked as a co-star in two films that were very successful at the box office, Scusa ma ti chiamo amore and Scusa se ti voglio sposare. On TV, he played a co-starring role in Rino Gaetano.

He also participated as an actor in several films such as Third Person directed by the Oscar award winner Paul Haggis, playing alongside Adrien Brody.

Per sfortuna che ci sei directed by Alessio Federici alongside Ambra Angiolini and Enrico Brignano and Tutta colpa di Freud directed by Paolo Genovese.

He recently returned to the big screen as a leading actor and screenwriter in the films Ovunque tu sarai by Roberto Capucci with Ricky Memphis and Francesco Montanari and Malati di sesso by Claudio Cicconetti with Fabio Troiano.  As a co-star he worked with Bollywood productions in Roam Rome Mein by Tannishtha Chatterjee alongside Nawazuddin Siddiqui and in Il Bagno delle donne by Marco Castaldi alongside Luca Vecchi.

He has also collaborated as a columnist, journalist with the most important Italian newspapers "Il sole 24 ore" and "Il Messaggero", "Il Tempo" and "RomaItaliaLab".

He was the artistic director of the Terminillo Film Festival.

He has published his latest novel Perso a Los Angeles.

As a director he has been a real talent scout, making debuts in theatre and cinema as protagonists, actors such as: Raoul Bova, Claudia Gerini, Stefania Rocca, Pier Francesco Favino, Gabriella Pession, Mauro Meconi, Manuela Arcuri, Elda Alvigini.
